Nigeria: Army Can Protect Country – Major Maina
Commander of the Nigerian Army Armour Corps Major General Saleh Maina says Nigerian military has enough manpower and modern technology to discharge its duties of protecting the country’s territorial integrity.
The commander, who said this in Ilorin while on inspection visit to equipment and manpower at the 22 Armour Brigade Ilorin, however warned that the army will not condone any act of indiscipline of the officers and soldiers of all formations.
He said the Armour Corps is combatant ready to ensure that the country maintained its position in the African sub-region.
“Nigerian has one of the most disciplined soldiers and officers who are well trained that has given the country’s opportunities to participate in any peace keeping mission”, he said.
Maina also said the Armour Corps has put all that is required in place to ensure that the country’s national security is enhanced.
The commander then advised all officers and soldiers to en-sure they contribute their own quota to the implementation of the country’s foreign policy abroad.
On the issue of security of Nigerians living near military formations that deal with heavy arms, the corps commander assured Nigerians that adequate provisions have already been put in place to ensure that explosion does not occur in those areas.
He said already a survey of the areas has been carried out by the army authority and pro-per safety mechanism has been installed to protect the citizens living around military formations.
He also advised the officers and soldiers to ensure they live peacefully with their civilian neighbor. ( allafrica )
